Hello Filippo,

1) You can set the strength of the relationship to edge weight column, but that won't change the proximity of nodes, that usually changes the width of the edge. Node position is automatically calculated by the layout algorithm you choose and it takes into account also groups so nodes in one group are closer to each-other.

2) Unfortunately this feature is not yet available in NodeXL. We plan to implement a time series feature in NodeXL, but I can not provide a release date yet.
