Twitter restricts access to its data in many ways. Twitter will not deliver more than 18,000 tweets or any tweet older than about 7 or 8 days.
Historical Twitter data is only available through commercial resellers like GNIP, Data Sift, Radian6, and Crimson Hexagon.
