At our university, we have used NodeXL now for some years, for teaching purposes.
This year, however, our IT department reports that they cannot install the new distribution of NodeXL on the network, so that students can work with it. This is very problematic for a number of courses we teach.
It seems that the new ClickOnce distribution cannot be installed with SCCM, because it is largely installed in the user's AppData folder, and partly in the Program Files folder. After deploying the package, when trying to move the files in AppData\Local\Apps to another user profile, NodeXL fails to start.
Does anyone know if another version of the installer is in the making? A fully portable installation would be great.
It seems that this year we will have to look for a different application for teaching network analysis, but this is not what we want.
