Hello! Thank you for the interest in NodeXL.

Edge styles can be set in the Graph Options dialog which is accessed from the Graph Pane's menu (this is a window labeled "Document Actions" in Excel).

It is possible to get exactly the results you see in NodeXL Graph Gallery by downloading and importing the NodeXL Graph Options file.

The NodeXL Options file contains all the settings used to create the resulting map and report.

This file can be found linked from the bottom of most network detail pages on the web site. The link is labeled:
Download the NodeXL Options Used to Create the Graph About NodeXL Options
You can download as many options files as you find interesting.

Import the options file using the NodeXL>Options>Import command. Once loaded, your copy of NodeXL will now have the same settings as found in the selected dataset.

You can make these settings the new default settings for all new NodeXL files you create by selecting the NodeXL>Options>Use Current for new command.

You can always import a new set of options from a different file.

Once you have imported options settings that you like, select the NodeXL>Graph>Automate command a select Run. This will execute the set of commands defined by the options file.

If you download and apply the options file for a network with curved edges, for example, your resulting network will have curved edges.

This allows novice users to get expert level results quickly. Novice users can modify an options file rather than start from scratch.

When you upload a network dataset to the NodeXL Graph Gallery you also make it possible for others to share your settings along with your data. Over time, this process of exchange is designed to improve the quality of the graphs created within the NodeXL user community.

Marc
